The Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme (previously known as the Coal Board Medical) is designed to safeguard the health and safety of Queensland coal mine workers by requiring regular health assessments.
Under this scheme, employers must ensure that all current and prospective coal mine workers undergo health assessments. A Coal Board Medical, also called a Coal Mine Workers Health Assessment, is a mandatory occupational health examination for all coal mine workers in Queensland.
These medical examinations are a key component of the Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme, overseen by the Department of Natural Resources, Mining, and Energy of the Queensland Government. The primary goal of the scheme is to protect workers’ health, with a particular focus on preventing respiratory diseases through regular assessments.
